Most visitors to this part of Kumaon see Nainital and Kainchi Dham and go home, because nobody told them what else was within half an hour. These five days are sorted by direction so each one leaves the gate pointing one way and comes back the other. Every stop carries its real opening hours, its cost, and a red badge if it is shut on the day you were planning to go.

Card payment is rare at these places, so carry small notes. At the hotel itself international cards are accepted, and a passport with a valid visa is required at check in.

For guests visiting from outside India. Prices on these pages are in Indian Rupees. Rs 100 is roughly USD 1.20, EUR 1.10 or GBP 0.95. Entry fees are small and paid in cash at the gate, so carry a few hundred rupees in notes. Card and UPI payments work at the hotel itself.
Three closing days that will ruin a plan. Mahadevi Varma Museum is shut Saturday and Sunday. IVRI Mukteshwar is shut at weekends. The Nainital zoo is shut every Thursday. All three fall exactly when most guests are here, and all three are marked on the day pages.

This is why people stay four nights instead of two.
